Phoenix -– golf and relaxation capital of the Sonoran Desert -– also is a place in the sun for enjoying dynamic malls, antique shops, art galleries, and roadside markets. Galleries and visual art spaces have transformed the Greater Phoenix arts and culture scene, and Downtown Phoenix’s First Fridays provide intimate glimpses of artist studios. Valley malls include Biltmore Fashion Park and Scottsdale Fashion Square on Camelback Road and Kierland Commons on Scottsdale Road. Outlets at Anthem on Anthem Way in Phoenix features more than 80 top brand stores including Ann Taylor Factory Store and Docker’s Outlet By Design.

Arizona Mills, the state’s largest value and entertainment mega-mall, features retailers such as Off 5th Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet and Last Call from Neiman Marcus. Antique hunters head for historic Old Towne and Catlin Court in Glendale for strolling brick sidewalks accessing more than 80 antique stores and specialty shops. Glendale’s Arrowhead Towne Center, renovated and anchored by Dillard’s, Mervyn’s, Robinsons–May, JCPenney, and Sears has more than 170 shops. The Borgata of Scottsdale, with a Tuscan village cobblestone walkway atmosphere, provides a mix of one-of-a-kind and national specialty shops.

Old Town Scottsdale and its wooden sidewalks provide glimpses of trinkets to fine works of art inside storefronts, with an abundance of original Southwestern art and eclectic gifts along Main Street and Marshall Way. Tempe’s Mill Avenue, near Arizona State University, brims with gifts, jewelry, souvenirs and clothing, often made by area artists and designers. The Southeast Valley’s Chandler Fashion Center, anchored by Nordstrom, Robinsons-May, Dillard’s, and Sears, also has a 20-plex Harkins Theatre and water, light, music entertainment. For outdoor swap meet prices within big box comfort, Phoenix’s Indoor Swapmart on 27th Avenue provides goods from electronics to pet supplies.
